BBQ Catering in Santa Rosa: What to Order for Your Event

Planning BBQ Catering in Santa Rosa

Whether it's a wedding in a vineyard, a corporate lunch, or a backyard graduation party, barbecue is one of the most crowd-pleasing catering choices in Sonoma County. But people underestimate the planning. Here's a practical guide to portions, proteins, and decisions so your event goes smooth.

How Much Meat Per Person?

Plan for ¾ to 1 pound of meat per adult when barbecue is the main event. For events with lots of sides and other dishes, ½ pound works.

  • Brisket: the centerpiece. Plan ½ lb per person.
  • Pulled pork: the most cost-effective protein. ½ lb per person.
  • Ribs: half a rack per person for a rib-focused crowd.
  • Smoked chicken: a great secondary protein for variety.

Don't Skip the Sides

The sides are half the experience. A strong barbecue plate balances richness with acid and crunch. Our standard catering sides include:

  • Smoked mac and cheese
  • Collard greens
  • Coleslaw
  • Baked beans
  • Cornbread

For a full event, plan two sides per guest minimum. See our current pop-up menu for the lineup we run at events.

Match the Menu to the Event

  • Weddings: Brisket + pulled pork + two sides + cornbread. Elegant, crowd-safe, and it photographs beautifully.
  • Corporate events: Sandwiches (brisket, pulled pork, sausage) for speed. Easier to serve 100+ people in a window.
  • Backyard parties: Ribs + chicken. More casual, more interactive, and the smell does half the work.

How Far Ahead to Book

Santa Rosa's event season runs May through October. Book 6–8 weeks out for summer dates — Sonoma County weekends fill fast, especially wedding season. For corporate events, 3–4 weeks is usually enough. Start with our catering inquiry form and we'll help you build a menu that fits your guest count and budget.

Want to Cook It Yourself?

If you're doing a smaller backyard cook and want competition-level results, DEVOUR Pork Rub handles the seasoning for you — it's the same blend we use on our pulled pork and ribs. One bottle covers a lot of meat.

The Bottom Line

Good BBQ catering is about matching the menu to the moment. Tell us about your event and we'll build the spread. Start your catering inquiry or browse what we serve.
